Strategic consulting refers to major strategic activities which are not necessarily the norm for firms in the environmental consulting business, especially not ones that are similar in size to Peachtree (< 50 employees). Peachtree offers environmental and energy program management on an outsourced basis for small to medium sized industrial establishments that do not employ their own environmental staff or do not have in-house staff resources with enough time and/or appropriate expertise to make similar determinations. Peachtree recommends initiating such services with a comprehensive audit, as described above in both Sections 1 and 2, which will help determine both the compliance status of a particular establishment and the opportunities for significant savings in such areas as waste minimization, recycling, energy conversion and other sustainable activities.
Peachtree also performs risk assessments, a specialized skill which has become very prominent since risk- based corrective actions have been recognized as appropriate in many cases. Peachtree has utilized geo-statistical assessment and domain averaging to accomplish the determination of excavation volumes where a heterogeneous profile of waste would have resulted in greatly increased amounts of material requiring removal. The use of a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform for both displaying and analyzing complex environmental data sets has also contributed greatly to communications, problem solving and cost savings.
Peachtree is often asked to perform research and/or to provide expert witness depositions and testimony in any of the technical areas mentioned above. These services are provided for sites with which Peachtree is familiar and for sites where we have never worked.
Although the examples and discussion above are oriented primarily toward the state of Georgia, Peachtree also operates in numerous states throughout the USA. A firm understanding of Georgia’s environmental laws and regulations, many of which are adoptions or models of Federal statutes and regulations, allows Peachtree to quickly transition to other areas. Although not required in all cases to do business, Peachtree’s professional geologists and engineers are licensed in most states in the southeast and selected other states around the country. In some cases, Peachtree will utilize subcontractors in other states and areas to provide support services more cost effectively.
